If settling down for some off-the-grid camping for the weekend sounds like more your speed, you’ve come to the right place. Ditch the traditional feast and spend time connecting as a family in your RV rental at one of our favorite campsites for Thanksgiving.
Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona
Grand Canyon National Park is a consistent front runner for best holiday destinations. November brings cooler temperatures with sunny afternoons, making it a perfect hiking destination all weekend long. Plus, the El Tovar Hotel on the South Rim serves up a delicious Thanksgiving dinner for park visitors that don’t want to cook up their own feast. You can camp in the Grand Canyon Trailer Village RV Park, which offers full hookups and a shuttle to the nearby South Rim.

Pacific Coast Highway, California
This isn’t a campsite per say, but it is one epic road trip that is perfect for the Thanksgiving holiday. The temperatures in California are fairly moderate, making it ideal for outdoor exploring. Plus, the bonus to taking a road trip is the various activities you’ll enjoy along the way. The Pacific Coast Highway also boasts plenty of beautiful RV campsites, including a highly rated one at Leo Carrillo State Park.

Yosemite National Park, California
Another bucket list destination takes on new life during the holiday season. Visitors can soak in the miraculous sites of Yosemite National Park and also enjoy a festive Thanksgiving meal by the Ahwahnee restaurant’s executive chef. If you’re traveling with kids, children five and under eat free. And once your bellies are full, you can roll yourself out the tour and into your RV, ready to sleep off the turkey coma at one of the park’s 10 campgrounds that accommodate RVs.
Tallulah Gorge State Park, Georgia
While this is one of the smaller and lesser-known parks on this list, Tallulah Gorge is an awesome RV campsite for Thanksgiving. Visitors can sign up for the annual ranger-led Walk Off the Turkey Hike through the gorge for a nominal fee. You’ll get to meet people lots of locals on this hike – it’s a Thanksgiving favorite in the area.
Top of the Hill RV Resort, Texas
For a unique Thanksgiving meal, Top of the Hill RV Resort hosts its annual Turkey in a Trashcan. Yes, you read that correctly. This campground hosts the ultimate holiday potluck by roasting several turkeys in metal trashcans over an open fire pit and campers bring the side dishes. There’s no better way to celebrate the season of togetherness than with friends, old and new.
